IA_JPW136 Chain Belly Belt with Double Chain Loops
These belly belts would be a nice beginner belt for someone just starting out doing belly dance, or for just as a nice stylish accessory belt. They are inexpensive and lots of fun. This style is made with a pair of delicate chains, with a second pair of chains attached at intervals with little dangle bells to create a looped effect. They are available in either silver or gold colored metal.
These belts can be used for Middle Eastern Dance (also known as Belly Dance, Oriental Dance, raks sharki, Kuchi dancing or Tribal Dance). They are 36 inches long, with a hook at one end and a set of loops at the other to make them very adjustable. To make them longer (for those of us with wide, womanly hips, bracelets, anklets, necklaces or even additional belts make wonderful belt extenders).
Historically in the Middle East, jewelry is an indication of a womans social and economic status. Part of the dowry would be in jewelry, which would remain the property of the woman after marriage. It is also customary for the husband to give his wife jewelry after she gives birth to each child. Therefore, the more jewelry a woman displays, the higher her status as a married woman and mother.
The little jingling bells found on most of the dance jewelry protects the wearer by warding off evil spirits. They also amuse children (who also wear jingly jewelry).
The Koran prohibits men from adorning themselves with gold, so Arabian men show their wealth and status by decorating their weapons and camels instead of themselves. These belts work well as camel adornments too. Four out of Five camels prefer jewelry from The Pillaged Village!
This item (as well as many others) is available to qualified retailers for wholesale purchase. Please inquire for additional information if you are interested in becoming a Pillaged Village wholesale customer.
